HI, I'M STEVE, AN EX-DETECTIVE TURNED POLICE ADVISOR AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER FOR FILM & TV.

I served in my local force, Sussex Police, for 14-years before I re-trained as a Graphic Designer. My career spanned many departments, including Response, Public Order, Investigations, CID and Public Protection. I underwent training as an emergency response driver, a method of entry officer, a public order Medic, and finally, a detective.

Beyond my daily duties, I also worked in London to assist the Metropolitan Police during the 2012 London Olympics, and was part of a joint security operation in Northern Ireland for the G8 Summit in 2013.

I most recently worked as a detective within the Public Protection department in Brighton; investigating complex cases relating to serious sexual offences and vulnerable children and managing cases through to trial at Crown Court.

I re-trained as a Graphic Designer in 2019 at Shillington College in Brisbane, Australia,.

Since then, I’ve worked as a Police Advisor and Graphic Designer in the UK film & TV industry, specialising in creating authentic police graphics and advising on police props, procedures and wardrobe for productions including the BBC film ‘Responsible Child’ (2019), and the Sky series ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’ (2021).

After switching careers, I realised just how many creative and talented people there are in the film & TV industry, so I started the OPENING CREDITS® podcast, which I co-host with fellow graphic designer Laura Whitehouse, as a way to meet the crew behind the scenes and help other people find out more about the weird and wonderful world of filmmaking.

Outside of the film world, I also design branding for new, founder-led businesses.
